Community Services Department Operational Feasibility Plan Meeting

Public Meeting for Community Services Department Operational Feasibility Plan:

The City of Casa Grande is creating an Operational Feasibility Plan (OFP) for a new Recreation Center and we want to hear from all community residents, business owners, sports groups, recreation users, senior adults, special interest class users, youth groups and any other interested parties. The City of Casa Grande will be hosting a Public Meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 6:30 – 8:30 pm, at Casa Grande Parks & Recreation Department (404 E. Florence Blvd.) in the Armadillo/Bobcat classrooms. Everyone is welcome.

This OFP will look at all existing programs and services that the community services department currently offers, and will help prioritize the needs and amenity desires for the new facility and services. This plan will help to determine the possible revenue sources and operating costs for a facility of this type. The City recently has completed several planning efforts including the Community Services Trails Master Plan 2007, Resident Satisfaction Survey 2007, Community Services Master Plan 2005, City of Casa Grande General Plan 2010, the Development Impact Fee Study 2007, and the Multimodal Transportation Study 2001.

In addition to this Public Meeting, a statistically-valid survey will be mailed to over 1200 citizens within the City limits in the next month or so. Extensive community input in determining this plan is desired. If you receive this survey or know of someone who does, please encourage them to complete it and return it as soon as possible.

The City has hired a nationally-known sports facility design-planning team of Sink, Combs, and Dethlefs, based in Denver, CO, to oversee the Community Services Department Operational Feasibility Planning process. Sink Combs is working with Ballard*King and Associates, a recreation facility planning and operations consulting firm and Leisure Vision, to complete various portions of the plan. Any questions regarding the OFP or the Public Meeting can be directed to Caryl Chase, Recreation Superintendent at (520) 421-8677, ext. 4500 or Anita Avila, Management Analyst at (520) 421-8677, ext. 4522.
